Colwyn Male Voice Choir gained further International Success on 11th july when the choir was awarded 3rd Place in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in the Male choir category. Competition was close between choirs with Cor Rhosllanerchrugog ( winners) , Cor Undebol ar Ol Tri and Colwyn Choir in third place. Singing in front of an international audience of thousands and three adjudicators, Colwyn`s success followed on from their two wins at the Pan Celtic Festival in Derry in April 2015.
Before going on stage at Llangollen, Colwyn Male Voice Choir met Eisteddfod President Terry Waite and the choir is shown with Terry in the attached photo. On stage we sang two Mervyn Birch unaccompanied folk songs Dacw Nghariad and Deryn y Bwn, a hymn set to the tune Deep Harmony. Mary Darling accompanied the choir on Clychau Gog and O Gymru. After competing the choir enjoyed singing to the audience in the arena at around 5.30 before greeting international Welsh tenor Rhys Meirion and his fellow artists and supporters at the end of his Cerddwn Ymlaen (Walking Forward) a major charity event touring a lap of Wales by various transport and activities raising awareness of organ donation.
