Joint Male Voice Choir Concert with the Snowdown Male Voice Choir

The Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir

The Colwyn Male Voice Choir had the pleasure to be able to share the stage with the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Male Voice Choir from Kent in a joint concert at St John’s Methodist Church, Mostyn Avenue, Llandudno. The concert was on Saturday the 17th of June.

The Snowdown choir has its roots in the North Downs where the Snowdown Colliery which opened in 1920’s and where the migrated Welsh miners  brought their knowledge, skills and passions which included singing and thus founded the choir. Sadly the colliery is now closed but the choir remains and Snowdown is the last remaining colliery choir of that area.

So the links to Wales remains strong although this is their first organised tour to North Wales. They are looking forward to comparing their own “Garden of England’ to as they say the dramatic and rugged splendour of North Wales.

We enjoyed the evening and feel assured they will have enjoyed their visit to North Wales.
