The choir once again took part in the Rhos on Sea Rotary Club switching on ceremony for the Tree of Lights which raises so much needed funds for St David’s Hospice in Llandudno. This is an event which has been a presence high up on the Cayley Embankment for the last 17 years. We can remember the early days when just a small number of people came along to witness the switch. Over the years the event has grown to draw many hundreds. Last year was the biggest with around a 1000 whereas this year it was half that however when you consider the weather still a big crowd. A siple ceremony just enough to reflect the emotion of the event and what it embraces. Carols for everyone with the crowd, choir and the Beaulah Brass Band made for a perfect start to Christmas. As has been mentioned the weather, a 55MPH gale in fact, and considering many other similar events were cancelled goes to show that we here on the Colwyn Bay are made of up hardy kind hearted people. It was windy enough to blow the trombonist music ff its stand to which he duly chased down the embankment and caught the copies. Well got sir!
An update 1st January is that £11,000 has been raised for the hospice cause.
